Wassmann Cabernet Franc
This biodynamic wine is of the elegant grape Cabernet Franc, which gets so good in the wine region Villány in south Hungary that the special grape clone has received a protected origin called "Villány Franc". The couple Ralf and Susann Wassmann moved from Germany to follow their passion and start this small 2 hectare vineyard. Cabernet Franc is their top wine.

The Wassmann couple have no employees and do all the work in the vineyards, in the cellar and marketing by themselves to achieve the best quality. Their cellars are traditional, built in clay by the danubian Swabians more than 100 years ago. There is no concrete, no technique there, the soil in the cellars is pure, natural clay ground.
100% Cabernet Franc
Destemmed, spontanous alcoholic fermentation in open wooden and steel tanks, pump over (remontage), skin contact for 5 weeks, spontanous malolactic fermentation, ripening in often used barrique barrels from Burgundy and Hungary for 20 months in our traditional earth cellar, no fining, no filtering, no additives, only a little sulphur to keep the fruity and fresh style, total sulphur is only 26 mg/l.

Complex and fruity, well balanced with subtile oak character, smooth tannins and fresh acidity.
Aroma and taste
Slightly fleshy scent of predominantly black berries with a hint of cherries, herbs and peppers. Fairly firm, fresh, juicy fruit with lively acidity and presence, herbs, yeast and red pepper, citrus peel in the background, good endurance, peppery shades and salty mineral notes.
